How We Started This Chapter by DT Ha

  1. It's kind of the revival of a "shelved project" - we actually had discussed forming BSU alumni association in Hanoi right after our MBA class' graduation in 1999, but somehow as fresh MBAs we were all very busy then - setting up new companies, getting promoted, doing a PhD… and the idea remained just an idea. From time to time when we met and inquired each other about our former classmates, who is doing what where, we were kind of a bit uneasy that we could not formalize the Alumni Association and making it a more "cohesive" network for all of us. It's amazing that perhaps we were all thinking about this same thing at the same time, so as soon as Ha Nguyen and Khang said "let's formalize our Alumni Chapter", somehow many of us responded right away and enthusiastically.
  2. Our meetings with Nancy in Hanoi, then the visit by Idaho State Governor, and as importantly, our meeting and discussion with Dr Sabine Klahr and Chalimar Swain this year made our desire to reconnect with our alma mater much stronger.
  3. We also see a role that as international alumni we can contribute back to the university, most obviously by helping Boise State faculty and students when they visit our part of the world (we would be happy to help arrange an EMBA tour to Vietnam for example) and also by promoting the name and reputation of Boise State and Idaho in Vietnam.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you all!
