The Dream:

To build a state-of-the-art building, rich with tradition, owned (free & clear) by the Alumni Association and the Boise State Foundation (independent from the University.) It will feature exquisite indoor and outdoor spaces that will be available for alumni use and public rental with income to be used for operating costs and endowed scholarships.

The Logo:

At the same time a new alumni home started taking shape, the Alumni Association unveiled a new logo and motto. The logo’s shield and torch symbolize the passing of the light onto future generations, and the motto Lux Universitatis, translates as Light of the University which encompasses the Association’s impact on the university’s past, present, and future.

Let's Imagine:

A physical space on campus...

  • where you can come "home" and remember some of the best times of your life… a place to entertain and meet friends…a place where you belong.
  • that hosts reunions, graduations, pre- and post-game festivities; to rent for a wedding, hold a meeting, enjoy a latte, beer or glass of wine!
  • where memories are shared, treasures are shown, money is raised for scholarships!!!

Having access to...

  • a ballroom large enough to hold gala events, award banquets and donor dinners--yet flexible enough to host more intimate events and smaller gatherings.
  • a state-of-the-art, techno-friendly, architecturally-pleasing interactive space.
  • a space filled with comfortable furniture and an inviting fireplace where you can reminisce with your family and guests as you share memories of your college experience.
  • a place that showcases our treasures, highlights our traditions and welcomes all alumni and friends.

Experiencing...

  • the view of the Boise foothills on a beautiful summer evening from an open air terrace while enjoying a beverage of choice at an alumni or private gathering.
  • a structure of glass, brick & sandstone rich with tradition yet designed to complement the present campus architecture.

The Details:

  • The total useable public space will be approx. 44,000 sq. ft.
  • The Alumni and Friends Center will be built on University Drive between Grant and Denver streets and will encompass the site of the current Alumni and Friends Center and the adjacent parking lot.
  • Public event spaces available for rent will include an inviting lobby/gallery, reception facilities with catering options, small conference rooms, outdoor patios, and a grand ballroom.

Public Event Spaces:

Both special event rental and possible long-term lease options will provide income to help offset Alumni and Friends Center operations and provide revenue to support student scholarships. Upon the success of the fundraising campaign, the following public event spaces will be included in the design:

  • Entrance Lobby: the front gallery/entry to the Alumni and Friends Center will be the central spine that connects the public event areas, the Great Hall and the administrative office tower. This entrance/lobby will set a welcoming tone and may be used for small receptions.
  • Dyke Nally Recognition Hall: this space will highlight donors, spotlight the university’s story, and offer interactive technology displays that allow visitors to be immersed in the Boise State experience.
  • Retail Area & Cafe in the Garden: during special events and on game days at Bronco Stadium, the building will have the flexibility to host several events both inside and out. Options for this space include retail sales of alumni merchandise and a cafe in the garden.
  • Reception Room/casual event space: smaller groups will be accommodated with intimate meeting space with outdoor views. This space can be reserved by alumni and visitors for private meetings.
  • Great Hall: Natural light will play a significant role in this room with two story windows and large sliding glass doors that allow easy access to outdoor entertaining.
  • Catering Kitchen & Storage: the banquet room and other public event spaces will be supported by a catering kitchen with loading dock. As a privately-owned building, this entire facility is not subject to campus catering limitations or liquor restrictions.
  • Outdoor Event spaces: a beautiful rooftop event space and landscaped/lighted ground level Event Garden complete with outdoor art, memorial benches, and statuary will both be available for public and private rental.
